I do not really like coffee so this assignment really stretched me. For this project, I was to make up a coffee company, brand the company, and design both liquid and dry packaging for the coffee. I wanted to change things up, make it fun, and explore some character development. I also learned a lot about aluminum can printing during the project.

Overall, I am really satisfied with the feel I developed. Oh, you can even take a look at the roughs for this project if you wish.

Valentine’s Day Gift Set

I did this as a little gift for my girlfriend, CJ. I wanted to test out my craftiness during this project. I created several boxes filled with matching M&Ms and a card.

The ribbons, the boxes, the designs, and construction was all done by hand. Anyone want the template?

Roots Festival

This was an in class assignment. For the Roots Festival back in my home town of Paola, KS, I developed an entire identity system and carried out the design theme through several mediums: Poster, 3 T-Shirts, and Light-Pole Banners for the downtown square.

I really stretched myself to liven up my design and make it fun, especially since the festival is about fun. The buildings in the logo mimic the downtown area of Paola. I think it turned out great.

BBMI Missions Brochure

For Banjara Baptist Ministries International I developed a logo identity system, along with a metric standard stationery system and a brochure.

This project was a challenge solely due to culture differences. Even so, I enjoyed the challenge and I think it turned out well.

Brandon Benefield Portfolio

This project was created for photographer Brandon Benefield. I developed both a logo identity and a website using SquareSpace. This was my first time using the SquareSpace system.

While the system is useful as a CMS, it was difficult to get design elements where I needed them. For both aesthetics and usefulness I implemented JavaScript code to automatically load images as a banner that Brandon added to his posts.

Godios

While I was down in Texas in the summer of 2009 I got to meet some really great people. Cristian and Caryn Candia hired me on as a web and graphic designer for their company Godios.

In this specific project, I designed a logo identity system and a web portal for their web apps.

Northwood Tools Interface

During my internship with Northwood Church in Keller, TX I designed the interface system for a room reservation web application.

I chose to use a fluid design that would expand and contract with the user’s browser because of the amount of information that was necessary to display. I really liked how a system so every day turned out to be appealing to look at.

Landmark Missionary Baptist Church

In this project, I created a logo identity for Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Siloam Springs, Arkansas.

Along with the logo identity, I developed a fitting website for the congregation. This was one of my first web typography trials.

Erosion Jeans

I art directed and designed a brochure aimed at retail merchants that could also be used as a poster. The brochure introduced a new type of Jeans branded “Erosion.”

I really wanted to capture the texture that would define the jean brand. With the help of Angela Martin, Erosion Jeans came to life. The unique element of this project was the way in which the brochure unfolded. As the viewer turned the page the jeans in the photo seemed to unfold with each turn.

I art directed and designed a magazine spread for an article as if it would appear in Christianity Today. This was a class project. I decided to take a Christian stereotype and exaggerate it a bit to aid the point of the article. It was a great project.
